An injured leopard rescued from the Bhaisanghat range of Kanha Tiger Reserve was successfully released back into the wild after recovering at the Mukki quarantine centre. Forest officials confirmed that the animal returned to the forest in healthy condition on Saturday evening.
According to reserve authorities, the leopard was noticed by a patrolling team a few days ago in an injured state. After receiving the alert, forest staff carried out a rescue operation and safely captured the animal during the night of May 12.
The following morning, the leopard underwent a medical examination in the presence of senior forest officials. Wildlife health officer Dr. Sandeep Agrawal provided initial treatment before the animal was shifted to the Mukki quarantine facility for advanced care and close observation.
Officials stated that the leopard’s health gradually improved over several days with continuous treatment and monitoring. Once veterinarians declared the animal fully recovered, it was released into its natural habitat on May 17.
Senior officials, including field director Ravindra Mani Tripathi, deputy director PK Verma, and assistant directors from Halon and Phen ranges, were present during the release process.
As soon as the cage was opened, the leopard quickly moved back into the forest, showing signs of complete recovery. Forest authorities described the operation as a successful example of coordinated wildlife rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation efforts in protecting wild animals.
